Where to Watch New Year Fireworks in London

It’s almost time to say goodbye to 2017, and New Year’s Eve fireworks always offer you the chance to give the year a memorable send-off. What better place to experience stunning fireworks than in London?!
What’s the best way to watch the New Year Fireworks in London?

When and where is the official event?

The incredible annual New Year’s Eve fireworks happen along the River Thames. The official venue is located on the Victoria Embankment. and the closest viewing areas will require you to purchase a ticket. The tickets are currently available online and they cost £10. You are able to buy up to four tickets to the event.
The event starts at 8 pm and the 15-minute firework show begins – of course! – as the clocks strike midnight. Ticketing is in place to avoid overcrowding so you want to buy one in order to see the fireworks from the top spot. The closest tube stations to the viewing areas include Embankment, Barbican, Westminster, Waterloo and the Monument.

The best non-ticketed areas

It’s possible to avoid the £10 charge – or if the tickets have sold out by the time you read this! – and check out the fireworks from other nearby locations. The best viewing areas include Cannon Street, which is just outside of the ticketing area but offers a good view of the fireworks. You will also be able to see the fireworks – especially on a clear night – from Tower Bridge and all the way from Parliament Hill.
Both Cannon Street and Tower Bridge are popular areas and you have to arrive early enough to get a good spot. Parliament Hill is less crowded but you still want to arrive early, especially if the weather is good for watching fireworks.

Nearby restaurants, pubs and bars

You can also take advantage of the other events across London that offer entertainment and a view of the fireworks. Jimmy’s Lodge on the River will serve a menu of stunning food and offers perfect views across the River Thames. You will also have an impressive view from the restaurant and bars at the Shard and the Sky Garden. Both have special New Year’s parties available – but be sure to book your tickets right now.
For an exclusive view of the fireworks, consider booking a spot on the multiple boat parties taking place along the river. Big Bang New Year’s Eve Boat Party is a five-hour cruise with food, drinks and a view of the fireworks. You can’t get a much more exclusive view of the event than this!
Just remember to pick your chosen venue in advance. Most places have ticketing in place for the New Year to avoid overcrowding so you have to act fast.
So, pick your favourite option from the above list and start planning for your New Year’s Eve. You can find all sorts of options for watching the world famous firework display – but you can also find plenty of street parties across the capital for a more intimate experience. If you’d like to throw your own show, don’t forget to check the Firework Crazy store for stunning fireworks!
