Techniques and Tools for Lighting Your Fireworks
A useful video from our Firework Safety Series which gives you a better understanding of what and HOW TO LIGHT your fireworks. We encourage you to think carefully when lighting fireworks to ensure you are kept at a safe distance.
The equipment mentioned in this video:
Long reach lighter – enables you to control the flame and can be used over a long period of time.
Portfires – lasting for around 3 to 4 minutes, therefore they are much better if lighting a number of fireworks at once, such as rockets and you do not have a long reach lighter.
Lighting Pucks -burn over a period of 90 minutes allowing time to light fireworks during an evening, but it can be harder to light the fuse of the firework.
Avoid using matches or a normal handheld lighter, as these do not give you
that extra distance away from the firework you are about to light.
